We don’t need to wish you luck J-Lai. Only congrats in advance! For those who don’t know, Jessica Lai (pictured) is one amazingly talented olympic weightlifter and will be throwing some heavy sh!t around this weekend at the AWF Commonwealth Games Trials on the Gold Coast. If you were looking for something to do this weekend (J-Lai lifts Saturday morning), the Mercure Resort is where this pocket rocket and other top lifters from across the country will be strutting their stuff!
Well, Sunday definitely wasn’t a rest day for me… 2 x WOD Dogs shoots with 2 x pocket rockets and their beautiful pooches were on my itinerary. First up was this amazing little lady – Jessica Lai (J-Lai) and her mate, Roofus! J-Lai is one of those girls that I am sure others love to hate because of her natural talent, strength and ability to make every movement look like precision ballet! J-Lai is also on the road to the Commonwealth Games in the sport of Weightlifting… Pending her AWF (Australian Weightlifting Federation) hosted trials on 14 March (this weekend) at the Mercure on the Gold Coast, J-Lai will very likely be representing the country in Scotland! Here’s a sneak peek at some of the shots we took today as part of the WOD Dogs Project in an attempt to raise much needed funds for RSPCA Qld…
I love my job… Not only because I get to rub shoulders with heavyweights like Dmitry, but because I get to hang with, and watch the growth in athletes, capture their journeys and join in on their celebrations of success, whether it be a PB, or nailing a new skill to add to their arsenal. One such person I have had the pleasure of meeting early in her CrossFit career and watched threw the view finder (without sounding like a dirty creep!!!) grow from being someone with kick ar$e foundations into a weapon of mass destruction is Tammi Robinson… My next feature Athlete of the Month. Watch this space!
