In the words of Kara Webb… #usewhatyourmammagaveyou #q1andq2
Had a stellar morning at another top CrossFit Box this morning; CrossFit Brendale, owned and run by legendary couple Al and Em’ Pitt. I was asked to get some shots of the new set-up and their classes. The place is IMPRESSIVE, as are the members and coaches. A magical morning and hopefully I have managed to pull off some half decent shots for their new website?!?! I’ll let you be the judge, based on this little preview:
The first shoot of the SportsMed sponsored WOD Dogs road trip was at the new, elaborate, and slick CrossFit Lake Macquarie with none other co-owner/coach, and Again Faster sponsored athlete Vicki Webber with her little rescue pooch, Gizmo! There wasn’t much that Gizmo couldn’t and wouldn’t do, so this feature was freaking fun to shoot, and if there was a CrossFit comp’ for dogs, Giz’ would eat it up!!! Like Dog like Mum, this duo has energy to burn… Here’s a taster of what will be published in the WOD Dogs photo-book!
EzyDog have been an amazing supporter to WOD Dogs and my own photography ventures; providing world class, kick ar$e, active canine accessories for trial to all my athletes and (doggy) models along the way… Today saw me head to Noosa to shoot Bugsy, furry baby to my very best mate, Matty Klarie, with some of EzyDog’s merchandise… I can only show you one shot, but for those of you who are in the market for doggy gear, you really need to be checking out EzyDog’s quality and adventurous range! Below is one sample of what’s available… Visit www.ezydog.com.au and buy up big for your pups!
Sometimes your training takes you to dark places… Those places in the far corners of your mind where you learn the most about your mental fortitude and capacity to grind in the presence of pain, where every breath is conscious, and your focus is pure and direct… That’s where you need to take yourself, and become comfortable with, if you want to succeed. And that one day when you do… It will be as sweet as meditation…
I know a chick… She’s ‘strong like bull’! This chick is a coach to CrossFit Kids (Mitchelton), can out-WOD and out-lift most men, and eats, sleeps, breathes and $h!ts CrossFit! I love her to bits…This chick is all kinds of awesome… And her name is Sarah Petchell.
I just had a kick ar$e morning with Rob Noy and the CrossFit CrossAxed crew, taking shots for their new website, being launched shortly! The community Rob and his team have built is extraordinary and it’s easy to see why CrossAxed has such a great rep’ in SEQ! If you are a ‘south-sider’ (near Morningside), get on over to check out the scene and get amongst it at CrossAxed!
Here’s a little preview from the session:
It just goes to show that even some relatively cheap bits of kit can yield some cracking results when it comes to photography… My GoPro Hero 3 Black is my new best friend! For anyone who likes sports photography or just wants something that is light, portable, can take a beating, provides video, burst and single shot options, and gives you some pretty rad effects with it’s fisheye ultra-wide capacity, get on board! I have a few trials I will be doing over the weekend that will hopefully result in some very cool stills and vids – involving Astro… Watch this space!
This pic was taken at CrossFit CrossAxed Semper Paratus Challenge (pool WOD). Sorry for being ‘the creep at the bottom of the pool’ ladies! :S
Dear followers, friends and family.
I am about to embark on a (rather large) photography project. The project is a photo-book (hard copy and electronic versions) consisting of athletes and their dogs… named: ©WOD dogs. The book will feature select athletes and their dog/s in various training settings and poses. It will also consist of a short story about each feature athlete and their dog, outlining why health/fitness, and their dog are so important to them. ALL PROCEEDS from the book will be donated to RSPCA Qld Inc. (Inspectorate) to assist them in continuing their fight against animal cruelty with limited resources and support.
I am calling on everyone’s help to make this a success, and as such, I ask that you all share this with your networks and those you feel would be suitable features. I am also looking for sponsors for the book. Sponsors would have the opportunity to display their business logo on an athletes page and be credited also. Features are open to everyone through application. The application just needs to be a photo of you and your dog/s and a few words on yourself, your sporting/training background/achievements and why your dog, health and fitness are major parts of your life. Applications are to be emailed to me at: firstname.lastname@example.org
The successful applicants will be contacted within 2 working days of receipt of their application and individual shoot details can then be arranged.
So, if you are an athlete, passionate about animal welfare and want to be published for the world to see… Here is your chance to do it and aid in the work of the greatest charity to ever exist.
Get sharing/applying… I’ll time you… 3, 2, 1, GO!!!
