I just had a kick ar$e morning with Rob Noy and the CrossFit CrossAxed crew, taking shots for their new website, being launched shortly! The community Rob and his team have built is extraordinary and it’s easy to see why CrossAxed has such a great rep’ in SEQ! If you are a ‘south-sider’ (near Morningside), get on over to check out the scene and get amongst it at CrossAxed!

Here’s a little preview from the session:

Yesterday was a dream come true to be able to watch, learn from, and shoot one of the best in the business… Dmitry Klokov, with the Again Faster Development Athlete Team. It was mind blowing how strong and fast the man really is. You’ve all seen the vids and pics over the last few weeks and so I won’t bore you with more… You can see all the action on the Again Faster Facebook page >>HERE<<!

Turns out Dmitry Klokov had heard of ‘the FITographer’ and wanted some tips… No big deal… ūüėõ

Want to be a part of the community and support those who defend the defenceless? Are you a business wanting to expand your exposure while achieving Corporate and Social Responsibility objectives? Are you an animal welfare advocate wanting to make a difference?

The *WOD Dogs Project (*WOD is a CrossFit term meaning ‘Workout Of the Day’) needs your help!

Every morning, the RSPCA Qld Inspectorate prepare to attend animal cruelty complaints throughout the State. Before departing for those jobs, they already face some major challenges:

‚ÄĘ ¬†Being ‚Äė1 up‚Äô (each Inspector has a designated area of operation and do not have the security of a partner as do Police, yet they deal with the same ‚Äėclientele‚Äô and therefore same dangers);

‚ÄĘ ¬†Lack of government funding (less than 2% of the annual operating budget is provided by government and yet RSPCA Qld require >$30,000,000.00 p.a. to keep doors open) means they must make do with limited resources; and,

‚ÄĘ ¬†Magistrates are handing down such lenient penalties for animal cruelty offences, not only does it set a laughable precedence, RSPCA Qld only recoup a very small portion of costs (legal, treatment and boarding) and so are forever ‘behind the eight ball‚Äô!

Once on the road performing their daily duties, the Inspectorate are then¬†confronted with some unforgettable and life changing situations ‚Äď such as the¬†story of INDY; a female dog seen to be tossed from a car, starved so¬†badly she was skeletal, dehydrated and more than 60% under her normal body¬†weight, now rehabilitated and in a loving home, or the story of DIESEL; a young¬†male dog castrated by his owner with a rubber band, suffering incredible pain and¬†infection with no relief and or treatment for 10 days before RSPCA seized and treated¬†him, or the story of SNOWY; a cat that was taped and torched yet managed to make¬†its way back home before being found smouldering by his owner. SNOWY underwent¬†major surgery numerous times and wasn‚Äôt expected to make it, yet did thanks to¬†RSPCA intervention. The culprits are only sometimes brought to justice and not¬†all jobs have a happy ending‚Ķ

I have supported RSPCA Qld annually with various fundraising activities… This year, I wanted to combine my three absolute passions to raise much needed funds:

1. Health and Fitness,
2. Dogs, and
3. Photography.

And, so WOD Dogs was born… A published photo-book consisting of high profile athletes and their dogs, to promote healthy lifestyles, healthy dog ownership, and to raise much needed funds for RSPCA Qld through sales of the photo-book and sponsorship.

Want to be a part of the community and support those who defend the defenceless? Please visit the WOD Dogs project page >>HERE<< and find out how you can sponsor and support this project.

I love it when you can place your faith and trust in someone to produce results and in turn they amaze you with their talent and surpass your expectations… Such is the case with my WOD Dogs project. Given I have a lot of interstate athletes and pooches to capture, I simply couldn’t make it around the entire country to every one of them and so I needed to enlist some help… Enter the crazy talented Adam Lesniak!

For those of you that don’t know Adam; he’s my Again Faster Media counterpart in Melbourne and nearly all of what you see from Again Faster Australia is Adam’s handy work (…the ‘B-grade’ stuff is mine!). Make yourself familiar with Adam and his work at:

www.againfaster.com.au or www.facebook.com/adamlesniak.photo.vid

Given Adam’s talent and because he is just one of those blokes you can’t not love, he was/is perfect to be shooting our Melbourne based athletes… Enter the gorgeous Amy Dracup and her two cute as sh!t Frenchies, Echo and Cooper!

Amy is one serious athlete and one serious dog lover… So much so, she has incorporated them into the CrossFit Deux logo (owned by Amy and her husband,¬†Bjorn Albrecht-Walker). This little powerhouse has some serious accolades to her name, including individual and team representation at the World CrossFit Games (individual in ’11, them team in ’12 & ’13), currently holds a spot on the Commonwealth Weightlifting Development Squad, and is sponsored by Reebok, Pure Pharma and AlphaFit. We are pretty excited to have Amy and her pups as part of the WOD Dogs photo-book, and equally as excited to have Adam’s handy work as part of it too!!! Here is a sneak peek from Amy’s shoot recently…

*WOD Dogs is a fundraising project in support of RSPCA Qld… All proceeds from sales of the photo-book (once complete) go to helping RSPCA Qld Inspectorate fight animal cruelty…
